Landmark Decision: Quebec Court Approves Class Suit Against Gold Giant Canadian Malartic

(Malartic, Quebec) Malartic community members living closest to the biggest open pit mine next to city in Canada are pleased with today’s Quebec Superior Court authorizing a class action suit for damages they suffer from the dust, noise and daily blasts for years. The Court gave its ‘go-ahead’ for a suit which could amount to more than $40 million, including $20 million in exemplary damages against some of the company's behaviour. The mine is co-owned by Agnico Eagle & Yamana Gold.
