Metallic mining exploitation in the Dominican Republic is located in the heart of the country, in the provinces of La Vega, Monseñor Nouel and Sánchez Ramírez, which is also the centre for water sources and biodiversity. An area where life could thrive is turning into a ‘triangle of death'. Extractivism has had a significant negative social and environmental footprint in the region causing irreversible environmental damage to the environment as well dispossession of local communities.

OTTAWA/TORONTO – In the midst of parliamentary hearings on a potential Free Trade Agreement between Ecuador and Canada, recently elected Ecuadorian president Daniel Noboa will visit Canada this Monday to attend the world’s largest mining convention.
The Shuar Arutam People (PSHA) filed a complaint against Solaris Resources Inc. (TSX: SLS) before the British Columbia Securities Commission over its failure to continuously disclose material information to shareholders regarding its Warintza mining project which overlaps PSHA’s titled territory. In spite of PSHA's explicit and continuous rejection of the Warintza project, Vancouver-based Solaris has kept moving forward with its mining plans in the Amazon, one of the most biodiverse areas on the planet.
